ZITS!

Guys, you may want to sit this one out.

LOOK AT MY ZITS!

No, don't look at my eyebrows (I know, I'm going to pluck them soon, girls).

Look at my zits! I've never had so much coverage! What the hell is going on here? Why now? Should I just go out and get braces and get it over with? Should I get some new tourtouise shell glasses? Do I NOT LOOK YOUNG ENOUGH, that I have to divert back ever further?

I used to just put a steaming hot washcloth on my face. No zits. Then I started getting some, so I've tried Cetaphil. Guess what? It's not working for me. So now I'm going to try St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Which brand of face wash is for Barb? I'm going to find out. Won't it be a fun journey? Will you take it with me? I need all the help I can get.

Do you have insurance, barb? I think you need to see a dermatologist. I started getting lots of zits a few years ago, and I got some anti-biotics perscribed and they got better. They're finding now, I guess, that tons of zits like that are caused by an infection under the skin which can be killed - sometimes permanantly.

or you could have some kind of disease I don't know about.

Oh, lovely, I could have a disease.

I would see a dermatologist if I had insurance. Maybe in the next few months. But for now let's just hope I can find a product to balance this out.

    Hey Barb:)
    That sucks about the zits...
It could also be caused by hormone levels changing in your body. You're not pregnant, are you? Have you changed your birth control method in recent days? When I went off the Depo my face was covered with huge zits all the time for about a year.
I've gone through a ton of products for the face in my days. The Cetaphil is the one that I have found to work the best. How long have you been using it?
When you switch face cleansers your face will react to it by breaking out (most likely) so you need to give it at least a week or two time to see how it will really work. I know, that really sucks.
One product that you might want to try is the Neutragena (sp?) plain orange bar of soap. That one is really good too. I think there is another good Neutragena one too but I can't remember the name of it... foaming face cleanser, maybe? You might want to try going for gentle or sensative skin cleansers too... considering the fact that your skin doesn't already have years of experience with suds drying it out.
Anyhow, I hope that helped. Let me know if any of it helped. Love you.

    Hey Bonnie~
I used Cetaphil for over a month. I didn't see an improvement; if anything it kept getting worse.
New plan: I'm going to try Neutrogena's foaming face cleanser after work and then again before I go to bed. In my morning shower I will exfoliate with the apricot scrub.
I don't think I'm having hormonal changes... deff not preggers... Just UGLY.

Come to think of it, my zits are probably mostly related to city water. I wonder if there's anything for that...

    Hey Lynsey~
Yeah I have watched the infomercials about proactive too. I didn't realize you could get it online, duh!
I will see how much it costs, thanks

I really like the Bioré "warming anti-blackhead cream cleanser". It heats up on your face, which feels really neat, and I think it works well, too.

    Barb--
Don't necessarily go for the Apricot Scrub. Believe it or not, lots of times those scrubs just irritate the skin and make it worse.

I agree with Jessiee about the Apricot Scrub. I do use the stuff but only when my face is already clear. Or at least I avoid any problem areas.

actually...i suppose i could have been even more helpful by suggesting something. I love the Aveeno line. Great stuff, especially if you think your issues aren't hormonal. I never got much relief from over-the-counter stuff, but I'm hooked. I use the body stuff, and the face stuff. Even the lotion. It's fab.

If you cover your mirror over, you will not see the zits...and therefore will not be worried tht you may have them and then wont because you will be chillin.

thats what I think. you can quote me if you care to.

Thanks Mom. I would be happy to not look at myself, but other people still have to, so I don't think that would be fair.

I like the apricot scrub because it's fairly natural and I think my skin appreciates that. I'm being very careful not to press too hard when I use it, and it makes my face feel fresher so I think it's working for me. It's too early to tell, but if it feels good, I feel good about it.

I am still using the Cetaphil, though. I figured I'd transition as subtly as possible. If I don't see some changes soon, I think I'll unscrew the bottles of both Aveeno and Neutrogena in the store and smell them. Whichever one smells better to me will probably be what I need. My body will tell me.

    Thanks!

Stressed? Yeah. But I'm in denial about it. I don't know if that keeps my mind off of it or if it makes me internalize it too much.

I will drink more water anyway. It's free, so why not? :P

Thanks, I probably needed a reality check...
